La vida argentina

Yes life here in Argentina is slightly different from the German way of living:
- it seems like nobody is really working.. when you see workers on a construction area they mostly just stand there and do nothing..
- there is so much poverty everywhere you go.. on the street, in the "subte"... but people improvise and everything works!
- they have a merienda in the middle of the day (which means at 5 or 6^^) and then they don't eat dinner before 9.30.
- it seems like everybody knows how to dance tango and everyday there is a "milonga" (tango-party with mostly life music) somewhere which doesn't start till after dinner which means late at night (around 11) ..also during the week!
- and last but not least Buenos Aires is very alternative. That means that there are a lot of individual "clothes-designers" who are selling their "homemade" creations in a "mercado".

So you see there are quite some differences (not bad but different) we had to get used to.. The first week was kind of lazy.. Miri and I just enjoyed the relaxed way of living, went to class every morning from 11 till 2, did homework and explored a little tiny bit of Buenos Aires.. that was it..

Fernand (the columbian guy who lives in the same house as we do in a little apartment with his girlfriend) , Katja (the woman who owns the language school), Miri (you know her..) and I went out for a drink one of the first nights:

Fernand and the Heineken!! (the only seem to have 1 Liter bottles..)

..and Katja

On sunday there is always a maket on Plaza Dorrego which is near to where we live and so we went there.. it's amazing how much junk the people there try to sell.. and some tourists actually buy it! But it was a lot of fun just walking through the market and the streets there were a lot of musicians or other people who performed and of course wanted some money.. but it has a very special flair and in one corner of the market there was ..who would have guessed.. a little tango show going on ;-)
